Our 18th annual general meeting (AGM) will be held April 16-17-18, 2008 in Calgary , a cosmopolitan city of over one million people known as the “Heart of the New West.” Calgary is the largest city in Alberta Province and, after Toronto , is also Canada 's second-biggest head office city. Many new-to-Mongolia companies tell us that our AGM is an ideal introduction to Mongolia ’s investment opportunities.
The deadline for registration is April 3, after which a US$50 late registration fee will be charged. Registrations with fee remittance received by March 3 qualify for a 10% discount, regardless of category. Confirmed speakers include The Honorable Lu. Bold, Chairman of the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (MRPAM) and Dr. D. Gotov, Mongolian Ambassador to Canada and former chief of staff in the office of the President of Mongolia. The AGM will include panels on the Mongolian economy and elections, mining and oil development, Mongolia-related NGO of interest to the private sector, and financial services.
The AGM will start at 6:00 PM on April 16 with an opening reception, continue all day and evening on April 17, and conclude by 12:00 Noon on April 18.
An optional field trip will be offered for the afternoon of April 18. Discounted group rate reservations at the Calgary Marriott Hotel, primary venue of the AGM, are now available. The NAMBC group rate offers a standard room at C$199 per night for single or double occupancy. This rate does not include applicable federal, provincial, local taxes and fees (currently 10%). The NAMBC Board of Directors selected Calgary for the 2008 AGM at the invitation of Member Company Panasia Petroleum Ltd., which signed a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (MRPAM) at our Chicago AGM in April 2007. Panasia is headquartered in Calgary .
